Home - Bits & Bobs
One of my favorite British phrases is bits & bobs. I like it because it covers any number of things you need to shop for, decorate with, cook with, etc. So, here are a few bits and bobs in our home for some inspiration.
any guesses?
I had no idea what this was used for when I spotted it at Dirty Jane’s Antiques. I was instantly drawn to the mint green color, wooden handle and hand-painted flowers. The metal piece opens up and I had to know what its purpose was in the past. After some searching on the inter web, I found it. It was used back in the day to catch crumbs brushed off a table during or after a meal. They’re not worth much but I just love it. I’ve hidden chocolates in it for friends staying in our guest bedroom. I’d love to know the history of this particular piece…where and when it was used and I’m always struck by how practical, everyday objects were made beautiful for such mundane tasks. I think it’s charming and an inexpensive way to add a little art and conversation piece to a room.
