Home - Natural & Earthy
My love of nature is intertwined with what my eye is drawn to, interior wise. As I look around our home, I see so many examples of what my heart desires most.
Desires of Your Heart
This beautiful, driftwood cross is from a shop in Rosemary Beach, Florida. I found it years ago during one of our family beach trips. It symbolizes my faith and Jesus’ love, the natural elements God created and lives in our foyer beside our front door. I see it every day and it brings me such happiness, comfort and peace.
why rocks in a bowl?
These little natural treasures are from trips to beaches in Ireland, England, and on local trails. I especially love the “heart” stone I found while hiking in the mountains. The striped rocks are from Cornwall, while the smooth rounded ones are from Rosbeigh beach on the west coast of Ireland. These free souvenirs keep a little bit of those memories of our special trips and days alive in our family room.
nature on nature on nature
This vignette is full of symbols of nature and our precious earth. The small green bowl has images of leaves, a frog and lizard on it (from Southside Antiques from years ago) holding the above-mentioned stones and sits atop an antique pine sofa table, the photo frame has inlaid wood leaves and flowers on it (from Sophie’s Shoppe) the glass bottle (from Shop on Main) is that lovely shade of earthy green and sits beside a trio of wooden green candlesticks my parents gave us decades ago…all sitting in front of a view of the greens of the grass and trees outside. I also love the contrast of meaningful objects with texture, reflective qualities and solidness.
greens & browns
After a while, you begin to notice colors you’re drawn to…clearly I love browns and greens! The green and white block print pillow (Ballard Designs) sits next to a creamy textured pillow (Vinterest Hixson) on a caramel-colored leather sofa with a textured glass lamp from Target shining down on it.
that light!
I don’t know about you, but when the natural light from outside comes gently into a room, it’s just magical. This late afternoon/evening light comes into our living room every day (during sunny days, of course) and it makes me smile every time, even after 27 years of living here. This sunlight shines on a comfy, rush seat chair we’ve had for years, a new pillow from Ballard Designs and a jute rug from Amazon.
