Home - Winter/Early Spring Interiors

As winter fades, I love to bring in fresh “spring” flowers, like tulips, to mix in with touches of “winter” natural elements.

There was a little bit of snow left on the ground outside and these snowy white tulips looked beautiful in the afternoon sunlight. I found the tulips at Whole Foods. The pretty water decanter is from Sophie’s.

I love choosing a large bouquet of flowers at a grocery store and scattering little vases around the house. You get a lot of bang for your buck. These sweet tulips lasted for a full week.

The antique table, gray chair and brass candlestick is from my childhood home. The green glass lamp is from World Market. The drapes are from Ballard Designs.

I like to move items around the house sometimes. We recently moved this painting from our bedroom to the living room. It’s special to me because it hung in my childhood living room for years. It ties in with my love of all things nature…subject matter, colors and textures. And yes, I know, the wall is screaming out for a couple of sconces to flank the painting. I’m looking at a British brand called “Pooky”.

We’ve had the sofa, ottoman and side table for years. The gray, velvet pillow is from Sophie’s. The ikat cushion is from Ballard Designs. I found the white lamp and shade on clearance at Target! The green throw is Studio McGee from Target.

This is another example of how I’ve moved items from one place to another. I had these coffee table books scattered around the house, where they weren’t as accessible or inviting to pick up and flip through. The sweet round, wooden bowl was on our dark, wood dining room table but I thought it looked better on the cream-colored ottoman. I love pinecones and thought these from our backyard added a wintery look. The white tulips brought in the promise of spring, just around the corner.

The tufted ottoman is from Ballard Designs. The wooden bowl, “Sense of Place” and “Create” books are from Sophie’s. I found the “Ireland’s Heart” book during our trip Doolin, Ireland. I don’t remember where I found the “Tennesseeans” book. I collect brown transferware and thought this cutie plate was perfect for holding this pillar candle. The jute rug is from Amazon.

I love this versatile, wooden bowl from Sophie’s. I look forward to filling it with seasonal touches throughout the year.

These happy tulips spoke to me at Trader Joe’s recently. These sunny flowers called out to me, “Spring is here!” and I brought them home for the kitchen table. They were so reasonable and lasted all week. I love their scent and cheerful color!
