Bookish - Spring
A Cornish odyssey, a woman’s view of America’s early democracy years, and a hopeful story of romantic poets… good reads, so far, this Spring.
The Salt Path
by Raynor Winn
The fact that this story takes place in Cornwall, England grabbed my attention. David and I traveled there in 2022 and I fell in love with the breathtaking beauty of the place. This true journey reminds us to persevere, be brave, be open to new and challenging experiences and to carry on.
America’s First Daughter
by Stephanie Dray & Laura Kamoie
Historical fiction is my favorite genre. This is a fascinating peek into life in America and France in the early days of the American Revolution and the first few years of our democracy, from the viewpoint of one of Jefferson’s daughters.
The Swan’s Nest
by Laura McNeal
I LOVED this one. This “hard to put down” book is another historical fiction find, giving a glimpse into the life of famous British poets, Elizabeth Barrett-Browning and Robert Browning. It paints a picture of Victorian life for women, the upper class culture with its pleasant aspects, as well as its ugly, evil side, and a rare love story of two kindred spirits.
