Home - Eastery
As Easter nears, I love to decorate our home, here and there, with festive touches in anticipation of one of the holiest days of the year.
spring bowl
If you’ve seen some of my previous posts, you’ll know I like to change out items in this pretty wooden bowl from Sophie’s. For the Easter season, this cutie paper mache bunny hopped into the bowl, along with an egg-filled nest and new taper.
The brown bunny came from Target, years ago. I honestly can’t remember where the nest and eggs came from but it was either Sophie’s or Shops on Main. The brass candlestick belonged to my parents.
Peter
This little Peter Rabbit music box is very special. My mom gave him to me a long time ago. She and dad traveled to England once, to the home of Beatrix Potter. They gave our girls many Beatrix Potter books and stuffed animals when they were little. One of my dreams is to travel to the Lake District of England and walk the pathways my parents walked on the land where Beatrix Potter lived, bought and forever preserved hundreds of acres of countryside for future generations to enjoy.
Beatrix Potter also inspires me, as a writer and illustrator. Another dream I have is to, one day, create children’s books.
mantle
I love decorating our mantle for every season or holiday. What I love more, is that this mantle was found in an old farmhouse by my daddy. He lovingly restored it when I was a child. When my parents moved out of my childhood home, thankfully, they asked if I wanted it for our new home. Memories of countless Christmases and winter fires remain every time I look at it. One day, when we move from this house, it will go right along with us. Maybe years from now, it will live on in one of our daughters’ homes.
The topiary preserved boxwood trees, egg trees and mercury glass votives are from Target (from years ago). The Easter garland is from Vinterest Hixson.
the cross
This special cross is from Montreat, North Carolina. When the girls were little, our family went, with other church members, to this beautiful place in the mountains to serve during a conference, helping with the children’s activities. I bought this cross in a local shop there. We made sweet memories in that special place.
The cross represents the reason we celebrate Easter. Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins and give us eternal life with Him in heaven. Three days later, the Son of God rose from the dead and lives today!
welcome home
I found this sweet egg wreath at Target a long time ago. It welcomes us home on the garbage door.
This bunny admires the frilly daffodil on the kitchen table. This white ceramic rabbit is from Target from years ago. I had to rescue this bloom from the flower bed after heavy rains beat it down into the dirt. I clipped it, gave it a gentle shower and placed it in a little vase.
